Today is the last day of 2008! I am constantly on the coat tails of anything new, so just when it goes OUT of fashion I am usually just learning about it, lol! In 2008 I discovered two new things: Mixed Media Altered Art and Blogging. The blogging I have to thank my friend Kirsten who writes about wonderful things (I love how her mind works) and the art I have to thank my boyfriend who buys me all kinds of neat art-toys to play with. Thanks to everyone in the artistic Yahoo groups (Altered stArt and Art Techniques) that teach me new things and the other altered art bloggers who give me so much inspiration. Have a happy new year, I hate to see 2008 leave us but I am so excited about what 2009 will bring! With prayers for your health and happiness, Robin

Nah, not that kind… just trying to “catch up” on my gallery posts so I can add them to the trading page. I’ll be leaving town until after the 1st, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year :) If you want to trade, be sure to see the “Trade with Me” page for my samples. Cheers!

I suck at drawing freehand, that’s why I do it a lot, lol. It’s a brussel sprout, save you the effort trying to place it! ATC, watercolor pencils and ink pen.

Pattern embossed on watercolor paper then painted with acrylics in pastel colors. ATC size.

After the brussel sprout adventure, I drew a leaf. Kelly (my boyfriend and biggest fan) came in and spruced it up a bit, showed me how to use shadows and shading. I think I’ll stick to altered art and put down my pencil, but I love how his leaf came out!

A trading group I belonged to had the topic of “paint chips” so I got a handful of them at the hardware store, cut them up in a mosiac pattern, pasted them down and painted them with a metallic acrylic. I hated this one so it didn’t make the trading set, but I’ll stick in here in my trading folder in case anyone likes this soft of thing. Ew.

This ATC I so like… all images are from magazines, cut out from patterned scrapbook paper then layered. I finished off by adding the brad thing with a bit of yarn, a ribbon and accenting with ink pens.

I hate cheesy designs but this is what happens when I try to draw, lol. Patterened paper and hand drawn doodles, accented with markers, ink pen and colored pencils. Oh yes and that was the first time I got to use my rotary circa 18pt rubber apha stamp tool, too. ATC sized.

Greeting card, this was heck of a hard time to make and took hours. The middle window area is real, the flowers and butterflys are on the back page, shown through the transparent window plastic. Fabric, paper, twig, beads, metal frame pieces, rub-ons, chalks, stickers and glue. I need to find the other flower that fell off, then it will be for trade.

This ATC was made with a lot of care and time, every accent you see is hand cut from other media, then added to the patterend paper background. The antenna for the butterflies are from a piece of jewelry I tore apart, I don’t remember which now but they make great antenna. Outlined and accented with glitter pens.

I saw a sample similar to this in a magazine, probably Sew Somerset but I am not positive now. Was just trying my hand at drawing…. this one isn’t TOO bad, but I still like ruining things (altered art) much better, lol.

Real branches off of a fern tree on one of my walking adventures, used mod podge to seal it in before it turned. Glitter acryilic paint to accent the top layer and liquid pearls added to the leaves. The background was made a long time ago with metallic paint on watercolor (141 lb) paper and hammered with the back of a paintbrush to indent.

Same as above on watercolor paper with drawn metallic accenting pen, postcard sized.

Same as above but the background paper was done using the crackle paint technique using elmers glue. Top coat of glitter acryllic glaze.

Same as above….

Getting glitter to show up in a photo is tricky if even possible since I haven’t been able to yet!

Ingredient list: Scrunchy-glittery paper, a number cut out from a concert ticket, a number cut out from a temporary parking pass, staples, rub-on wings colored with pink pencil then glitterfied, a photo from a book about decorating with antiques, black ink, circa 18 pt alpha stamp, stipling brush and a kleenex. And glue, too.

(Available for trade, see trade link on the right, thanks!)
